
It was proposed that Argo will consist of approximately 3300 floats deployed around the world. Each float profiling through 0-2000 m around 36 times per year over an estimated lifetime of 5 years. They measure both temperature and salinity.
Both real-time and delayed mode data will be accessible to anyone. Real-time data will be subjected to automated quality control (QC) and made available via the Global Telecommunications System (GTS) within 24 hours. Delayed-mode data will be subjected to scientific QC and made available via the Internet within three months of collection.
